In the world today and in the World's way of thinking, the general attitude is: "I have to see in order to believe". They want to see a miracle in order to believe, and they want the miracle to happen to them, before believing that it can. Isn't it funny! This is exactly what Thomas had "a seeing first, believing last" kind of faith (if ever we can call it faith). This is not Jesus' teaching on the issue.
When Jesus came to Betheny, just before He raised Lazarus from the dead, the man's sister gave a "faith-less" comment. She said that they were not supposed to lift the stone. Her "intellectual reasoning" was "by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days"(John 11: 39). Listen well to what Jesus said:
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? John 11:40 -
The Jesus kind of Faith was: Believe, then you will see. If you are seeking a miracle from God, you need to believe first. Believe, Believe and Believe... Until you Recieve.
