Multiplication and Blessing
The law of Sowing and reaping (which we will discuss later) is the ruling law in Earth. When God created earth, He created everything with the potential to Multiply (see Genesis 1: 11-12, 22). God's Initial plan was that of a blessing, "and God blessed them, saying 'be fruitful and multiply...' " (Gen. 1: 22, 28). This blessing brought prosperity. Prosperity means that when you sow your seed you will reap MORE than you sow (Multiplication). Blessing is when you put an effort, Money, seed, power, time and it will give a result worth more than the effort. It was not until SIN came to earth that curse came.
The Curse on the earth
God cursed the earth and said: "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thisles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground for out of it you were taken; For dust you are, and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3: 17-19 NKJ). You become poor when you work and your salary is not enough for you to live a decent life. You become poor when sickness or your handicap prevents you from sowing seed, which is also a result of SIN. But praise God, Jesus came to redeem us from the curse. He took all our infirmities and weaknesses.
You are redeemed...
Sin brought trouble into the World. So when Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, He delt with the Sin issue. therefore, He had the power to break the curse that was put on earth when Adam sinned. Some may ask, "but does the Bible say that Jesus lifted the curse?" Yes.
one: Redeemed from the curse of the Law
In Galatians 3: 13 Paul says: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, For it is written 'cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'". But "this is the curse of the law?!" Yes, the curse of the Law is the Curse that comes from disobeying the Complete and perfect law of God. (See Deut. 28 for a list of Curses and blessings, Prosperity is included in the Blessings in this chapter and poverty in the curses.)
Two: The thorns of His crown
Another picture of how Jesus broke the curse is in the throne of Thorns that was put on His head. That was an image that He was crowned with the curse that was put on earth sine the curse states "thorns and thisles it shall bring forth for you" (Genesis 3: 17-19 NKJ). The Crown of thorns on Jesus' head is a proof that He took our poverty on himself.
Third: He became poor...
A third proof that Jesus took our poverty is directly stated in 2 Corinthians 8:9 "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He Became poor (when He was on the cross), that you through His poverty might become rich" (Please Notice that the Context of this verse is not in any sense speaking of what some call "Spiritual Riches", it is rather speaking about financial riches in this World. For the whole chapter is speaking about excellence in giving material gifts. If you Just read the Paragraph titles given in the NKJ Version for this chapter you will find: Excel in Giving, Christ our pattern, Collection for the Judean Saints).
Jesus took you Poverty, so why live in it any more?! The Next Question that you might ask How can I benefit from God's Prosperity? the Next Article will lead you through that Question.
